Community of Practice – Accessibility in Learning Design

Dear colleagues

Welcome back. Our first Community of Practice event of the academic year ‘Accessibility in Learning Design’ takes place at 1pm on Tuesday September 23rd in the Library Learning Lab.

In this CoP session, we are joined by Clare Martin, Learning Technologist at the Centre for Academic Practice and Dr Niamh Maguire, Senior Lecturer in Law at the Department of Law and Criminal Justice.

”Accessibility in learning design is about designing with all learners in mind from the start. By anticipating different needs and embedding flexibility, we can make learning more inclusive and engaging‘”

In this CoP, we’ll explore the Silktide Chrome extension, the use of podcasting, and Padlet to share practical approaches for the third level classroom, and how they can be embedded in your modules. We will also explore recent Module design for the new MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice led by Dr Niamh Maguire and designed with support from Clare Martin & Neill Wylie in the Centre for Academic Practice.

There will be an opportunity for discussion, and questions and answers at the end of the presentation.

This will be a hybrid event hosted in a new venue -the Library Learning Lab on the second floor of the Library on Cork Road Campus and via Zoom.

Tea, coffee, and refreshments will be provided in advance of the event at Oscars cafe in the Library.

A Zoom link will be sent in advance of the session.
