Queer Ecopoetics and Sustainability Narratives Workshop

Looking to bring fresh, critical perspectives on sustainability into your teaching?
This engaging seminar with Dr Caleb O’Connor explores how contemporary ecopoetry and environmental humanities can reshape how we think about ecology, social justice, and the stories we tell about “nature.”

Through the lens of queer ecopoetics, Caleb will show how poetry opens up new ways of understanding relationships between human and non-human life, urban spaces, and environmental change. The session will challenge dominant sustainability narratives, introduce queer and Indigenous perspectives, and invite participants to rethink ideas of wilderness, purity, and place.

Drawing on Fulbright research into queer culture and urban environments, the seminar will also explore how physical spaces, from waterfronts to city streets, shape identity, community, and policy.

When: Thursday 16th April, 9.15am – 11am
