RPL – Masterclass

Dear Colleagues,

We am delighted to invite you to our next RPL CoP session which will be in the form of a Masterclass generously delivered by John Pierce and Tomás Aylward. This event will take place online using Zoom.

Bio:

John and Tomas have worked at MTU for over 10 and 20 years respectively with a focus on outdoor learning across a number of degree programmes, including Health, Sport, and Exercise, Wildlife Biology, and Early Childcare. They both started their careers in outdoor adventure sports training and developed their practice to include more educational practices. Research interests include place-based pedagogies, the processes of outdoor learning, reflective practice and evaluation of learning.

Session Description:

This session will outline the development and implementation process of the RPL system for the BA in Outdoor Learning, a part-time and blended degree programme designed specifically for existing outdoor learning practitioners. Up to 60 credits are available in relation to practitioner’s practice and experience. The process of developing this system, as well as how it works practically will be detailed.

We would be delighted if you could join us for this session, on Wednesday 17th of May at 1.00 p.m. online using Zoom.

Masterclass – Lunch and learn series

  • Why: It will allow staff to learn from RPL practitioners who have had success in creating RPL opportunities for enterprise and employers, particularly on a cohort basis. It will be a safe space to ask questions about the practical steps, potential opportunities, and challenges involved in such partnerships.
  • What: It will consist of a presentation  (approx. 30 minutes), followed by a Q&A session (approx. 30 minutes).
  • Who: Sessions are open to all staff across SETU.
  • When: Masterclass sessions will be delivered as part of the CoP on an intermittent basis.
  • Where: Sessions will be offered in hybrid format where possible, or solely online. Links for remote participants will be sent post registration.

Please register for attendance using the link on the page. A Zoom link will be provided closer to that day.
