TEL Community of Practice: Peter Windle

This talk details the journey and decisions made on the path to creating four new pods for delivering online classes in SETU’s Department of Computing and Mathematics.

This Department has grown the number of fully online modules which placed significant demand on existing resources in the Pods based in SETU’s Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) for delivery of synchronous and asynchronous classes.

In June 2021, WIT’s Capital Projects office began a project with the Department and requested the CTEL’s assistance based on their experience in creating their own online pods.

This talk discusses the various considerations and solutions utilised on the project across a number of areas including:

  1. requirements gathering
  2. physical requirements and constraints in the room selected for development
  3. construction
  4. selection of hardware used in the room
  5. software used
  6. booking
  7. budget
  8. fitout
